Liverpool starlet Dominic Solanke is in line to join Rangers when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.The young forward has been unable to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans this season.3

Solanke has been reduced to Under-23 football, and has only made the bench once for the first team, for theEFL Cup defeat by Chelsea in September.He was linked with a loan exit from Anfield throughout the summer, with Rangers – managed by Liverpool great Steven Gerrard – reportedly wanting to take the 21-year-old to Ibrox.And it now appears the Gers are in pole position to get him when the transfer window reopens in just over a month.3

Crystal Palace are among the Premier League clubs who have also taken a look at Solanke, but Rangers are hopeful of wrapping up a deal for the former Chelsea player.Solanke is wanted to replace Umar Sadiq in Gerrard’s set-up, with the Nigeria attacker expected to return to Roma in January.Sadiq has made just five appearances without scoring a single goal since joining Rangers on a temporary basis earlier this year, and he’s poised to return to his former club, opening the door for Solanke’s Ibrox switch.3

Asked about the club’s January plans ahead of Livingstone’s visit, Gerrard said he’d be sitting down with chairman Dave King in the coming days to discuss the window.“We have no major plans for January, we have done a lot in the summer but the recruitment process is to always grow so we would move if it was for the right player,” he said.Solanke’s future was discussed by Klopp on Friday afternoon, having seen the young striker score four goals across two appearances for England Under-21s over the recent international break.“He is the striker in the [England] team and he did really well,” Klopp said. “Thats good.The situation here is a bit difficult, you all see it. But if Dom continues like he did so far then everything will be fine, 100 per cent.Theres nothing to say about the short or long-term things. Hes our player and if I have to decide that, he will stay that as well.”
