Shelvey has been a regular starter under Rafa Benitez for the past two years, playing a crucial role in their Championship winning campaign and last seasons top 10 Premier League finish. The 27-year-old, whose season has been disrupted by injuries, was linked with a move to West Ham in January but Benitez refused to sell him.But The Sun claim a 20million move to the London Stadium is back on.Shelvey has been left out of matchday squads in recent weeks and is playing for Newcastles Under-23 side to maintain his fitness. On Friday, Benitez said: “He’s somebody who is keen to be involved so that is positive.“Then we have the same problem, though. There are still 24 players available and 18 places in a squad. “At the same time, it is good because there’s competition for the players – the only thing that can be is positive for improving the levels.”Shelvey has made 106 Newcastle appearances since joining the club in a 12million deal from Swansea in January 2016.He has two-and-a-half years left on his deal at St James’ Park.
